Polysomnography at home is similar to that conducted out in the lab. However, since it is not constantly monitored by a polysomnography technician during the night, it is considered a type 2 test.
The Sleep Institute offers two options for the test:
1 – Basal polysomnography at home WITH a technician present
The polysomnography technician goes to the patient’s home to prepare them for the test and returns on the following day to retrieve the devices. In this option, a transportation fee is charged.
2 – Basal polysomnography at home WITHOUT a technician present.
The patient goes to the Sleep Institute to prepare for the test, which includes placing the sensors and receiving instructions. After finishing the preparation, the patient returns home to conduct the test. In this option, the patient must return to the Sleep Institute on the following day, at the scheduled time, to return the device.
