Home Exam Polysonogram can be performed in two types: Type 2 or Apnea Screening (Type 3). Polysonogram type 2 is similar to the one performed in laboratory, without the continuous monitoring by a technologist during the night. Apnea Screening (type 3) monitors less variables and can be assembled by the patient itself.

Home Polysomnogram Type 2
Instituto do Sono offers two options for taking this exam:
The polysonogram technologist goes to the patient´s home to prepare the exam and comes back the next day to collect the equipment. For this format, we just charge a trip fee.
At Instituto do Sono, the patient is prepared for the exam with the placement of sensors and orientation. The patient goes back home and performs the exam. In this option, it is necessary to come back to the Instituto do Sono the next day to bring the equipment back.
Apnea Screening (Type 3)
Apnea Screening (Type 3 ) is a home exam indicated for the diagnosis of sleep obstructive apnea.
It is performed by means of a small device with few accessories: a nasal cannula to evaluate respiration and snoring, a finger sensor to verify oxygen level and heart frequency and a thorax band to register the respiration movements.
As the equipment monitor less variables than the complete polysonogram, this test might be assembled by the patient itself.
After exam completion, the data are recorded and a report will be written by a physician specialist in sleep.
We send the equipment to the patient’s home on the day of the exam and we collect it the next day.
